Taygen's 30 month check up

Taygen is 30 months today. It doesn't seem like she is only 2 1/2. She has learned so much in the last year.

Her height is 34 1/2 inches and in the 26th percentile, which is up from 23% at her 2 year appt. Her weight is 27.2 and is in the 34th percentile, which is also up from the 25th % that is was up 6 months ago.

She didn't have any shots today. Not really any concerns. Taygen has problems with skin irritation. First, she was diagnosed with eczema and has to take lotion antibiotics every day just to keep her from flaring up. Now, she has had a rash (not really rash, but bumps under her arm, into her arm pit and around to her left breast) her doctor said that it was "molluscum contagiosum." She said it was benine, but to keep watching it. Because if it goes up to her neck or face then they will have to have the bumps removed. It will take about 2-3 years for them to go away.

Taygen turned one on March 5. She had her 1 year well-child checkup on March 11th. She is 19 lbs and is in the 50th percentile. She is 28 inches long and is in the 10th percentile. Her height hasn't changed since her 9 month check. She had to have 3 shots and a prick on the finger for anemia.  They did the prick on the finger and sent it to the lab, the nurse came back and said the level was 10, which means Anemic. She redid the test because she didn't think that was right, so Tayg got another prick on the finger and had to draw more blood, the nurse came back and said the level was 11, which now means no Anemia.

Aden is 2 1/2 and had to have his 30 month well child checkup as well. I took them in on the same day, to make it easier and didn't have to run in on different days. Aden weighs 26 lbs and is in the 12th perentile and his height is 34 1/4  and is in the 11th percentile.  He didn't have to have any shots this time!

We found out Aden has pneumonia. He had been coughing (croup like) and a runny nose (and acting fine) for about 2-3 weeks. He got a slight fever when he was sleeping Tuesday evening, Wednesday morning. He complained that his chest hurt when he coughed Wednesday morning when he was eating breakfast and just told him that he can just relax today and watch some of his shows since we didn't have anything to do that day. I wasn't too worried because he would be going to his Dr. for his well-child check on Friday and I would just talk to her about it then. Well, we get there and she listens to him breath,  Dan tells him to blow hard while she is listening to him breath. She tells Aden to blow again and that's when she heard the pneumonia. It's one of those things you think to yourself...if Dan wouldn't have told him to blow like that, would she even had caught that? He is on Amoxicillan and is doing much better.

Taygen has also been coughing and runny nose. She checked out fine at her appointment. Tayg got a fever that Friday night (a couple hours after the Dr. appt. and shots), so of course, I was worried because it was the same way Aden's pneumonia started. So I waited for the weekend to pass (because I am not taking her to Lincare or any kind of Urgent Care place) and got an appointment on Monday. They didn't hear any kind of pneumonia. The doctor thought that the fever was due to her shots, but the nurse told me that Taygen would not get any kind of shot symptoms for 10-12 days.

They monitored her oxygen for about 20 minutes and was worried about her breathing, they thought she might need a breathing machine (Aden has one when he was a baby). She came out of the appt. fine, she doesn't need a nebulizer or any kind of breathing machine. She is still not doing very good. She still has her cough, runny nose, very weak, just wants to sleep but when she does sleep it is only for about 30 minutes at a time (she can't get comfortable and her coughing wakes her up).  She has been like this every time she has gotten teeth, so hopefully that's what it is and not some health issue.

The little man had his 6 month check up today. His height is 26 7/8 and is in the 50-75%, he weighs 17 lbs and is in the 50%, and his head is 16 7/8 in and is in the 25%. He had to have 3 shots today, usually they combine the 3 shots into one, but today they gave him 3 separate shots (I think the nurse was new). They wanted to give him the flu shot but then changed their mind because it is pretty late in the season for a flu shot. He had a little side effect of a bloody nose tonight but besides being really tired he has done good with the shots so far. His next check up is his 9 month, where he will probably get more shots *boo hoo*.

Kiki has her 30 month check up in May. I am pretty sure she is getting shots, I'm just not sure which ones or how many. Luckily with the flu shot she was old enough and got the mist in her nose.
