The Kids

The little man is getting so big. He is no longer on a bottle and he is off his formula. He is sleeping through the night. Kiki is sleeping in her panties (instead of pull ups) through the night. This is the 3rd night in a row that she has waken up dry. She also wears her panties during naps and has been dry for the last 4 naps. She is so proud of herself, the first night she wore panties to bed she woke up dry. We went to Chuck E Cheese to celebrate to show her how proud we were and to give her an incentive to keep working on her goal. In two weeks we will find out if we are having a boy or a girl. My brother's girlfriend is due the exact same day as me and they found out on Thursday that they are having a boy. We do have a boy and a girl name picked out.

Baby's Heartbeat

We had our first Dr.'s visit to hear the heartbeat. The Dr. couldn't find the heartbeat so we did an ultrasound and everything is okay. The baby was just further in my back than it should have been, it was hiding from us.

The little man's first birthday is coming up. We are planning his party. I am really excited to be planning his party. We are just planning on having it at a park or the house depending on how the weather is. The party is in September so you never know how the weather is going to be in Nebraska.

I just hope the little man's 1st birthday party goes better than Kiki's. I was SO disappointed with the turn out of her 1st birthday party. Her birthday party was in November at a local indoor play area. The night before it had snowed and iced pretty good, but it had stopped by the morning of the party so it was sunny and nice that day. I had a couple people that were supposed to come in from Grand Island that I didn't really expect because it was worse there than it was here, so I understood. I had a lot of family that lived here in Lincoln that just did not show up. I felt so bad for Kiki and I hope the little man's birthday is far better!!

The hubby was kind of hesitant on planning the little man's birthday party because he doesn't want to be disappointed again...it just comes to show you who your real family and friends are when something important happens in your kids' lives. Regardless of who is there this year for the little man he will know who celebrated his first birthday with him.

Kiki had her 2 1/2 year check up this last week. Her height is 34 3/4 in and she is in the 25-50%, and her weight is 26 lbs she is in the 10-25%. She has only gained 1/2 a pound in 6 months. She did not have any shots this time *yay*. Kiki's doctor was pretty impressed with everything she knows and can do, the doctor asked us, "Are you sure she is not 4?" That made me feel really good because she is not only where she is supposed to be at her age level but she is way passed other 2 1/2 year olds.

The little man is doing really good. He is trying to sit on his butt from his stomach, he can't quit push up that far yet. He is talking alot, he can say "daddy", "ba ba" (for bottle). The hubby and I have heard him say his name a couple times and I have heard him say Kiki a couple times. When he sees his bottle or wants his bottle he says ba ba. I am working on getting him off the bottle and on a sippy cup because he can hold up his sippy cup up pretty good. He has been eating a lot more "people" food. Probably won't get on a schedule of eating people food until he is about 11 months.

New Bed

Kiki just got her own big girl bed. We bought her a twin bed with a bedroom set to match. She has been in a big girl bed for a while now, it was a toddler bed and we put a rail on it so she wouldn't fall out. She is really excited to get her bed.

This has been a big week for Kiki. She also wore panties out of the house for the first time since she has been potty trained. Usually we will have her in panties around the house but when we go shopping or out to eat we put a pull up on her. This week I thought I would try and put panties on her while we went to eat, she did great!! She did not have any accidents. The only thing we were worried about was her having an accident in the car while we were driving and not being able to be stop right away when she said 'potty'. We just tell her 'wait 1 minute' and she waits. She went out two times this last week with panties and didn't have an accident, the only time she wears pull ups now is nap time and bed time.

Update: The little man is getting up on his knees and scooting forward... not quit crawling yet, but give him a week or so. If he is as stubborn as his mom he will be crawling within a couple days.

These days....

The little man is sitting up pretty good now and rolling all over the floor. It will be any day now and he will be crawling, he is getting frustrated because he can't reach something so he will try and scoot. We went grocery shopping yesterday and we sat him in the grocery cart by himself without his car seat. He looked like a big man. He was so proud of himself at first, he was laughing and talking the first 15 minutes we were in the store then towards the end he started getting tired.

Kiki has been potty trained for a while now, we usually just take her panties off and lift her up to the potty and sit her on it. But recently we went out and bought a kid step stool for the bathroom and now she does it all herself. She gets the step stool out of its spot and sets it in front of the toilet, stands on it and pulls down her panties, we still have to lift her onto the toilet though because she is still short *kind of like her mom*. Then she will get the toilet paper by herself, wipe, we lift her down and she pulls up her pants and flushes, then she puts the step stool back where it goes and washes her hands. Sometimes I forget that she is only 28 months old.

I just started giving the little man a 'big boy' bath in the big bath tub. He is out growing his baby bath tub. I gave Kiki and the little man a bath together, it was so cute to watch. Kiki has her own bath puff, she wanted her body wash on it so I gave her some, the next thing I knew she was leaning over and washing the little man with it. She is very helpful with him.

Keira has had a sippy cup since she was 9 months old, and has been using a 'big girl' cup off and on when she eats lunch or is at her table. I decided the last couple of weeks to put her sippy away and only use a big girl cup. So now she has been off her sippy for about a week now and doing really good. We thought about using her sippy only when we went shopping or to eat, but we forgot it one day and she did really good without it, so now it is a big girl cup from now on. The kids' ped. told us that the little man could start using a sippy all ready. That seemed a little strange to me since he is only 6 months old. Maybe early in his 7 months I will introduce it to him and see how he does.

The little man's baptism

Yesterday, Sunday March 22nd was the little man's baptism. It was nice having all the family together. The kids did pretty good in church. I was surprised that Kiki did so good, she is usually the one who is talking. I was especially surprised at the fact that she stayed in the pews when daddy and I went up front to get the little man baptized. But of course she was with her uncle Cam and Shellbi.

I am feeling good this week, even though the kids have been crazy sleeping this week. The little man gets up at 5:30 a.m. and stays up until 7:30 a.m then Kiki gets up between 8 - 8:30. Usually Kiki will sleep until 10, but this week she has been on a weird sleeping schedule, I don't know why.

I have 6 more weeks left of classes. I have all my assignments done in both classes except for 3 papers *YUCK*. But it will be okay because my hubby gives me plenty of time at night to get them done.

The little guy is getting baptized this weekend. That is going to be a good day for all of us. I took the kids to the park this week when it was 70 degrees. Kiki had a lot of fun, she is usually scared of things that are out of her element, like big slides. Usually when we go to the park she is scared and just sticks right by our sides, but this time she went straight to the slide and climbed up the steps and went down all by her self. I was pretty proud of her. I took a video with my phone (as I seem to leave the camera at home on the perfect day) and sent it to daddy at work. Daddy was pretty proud of her also.

The little man had his 6 month check up today. His height is 26 7/8 and is in the 50-75%, he weighs 17 lbs and is in the 50%, and his head is 16 7/8 in and is in the 25%. He had to have 3 shots today, usually they combine the 3 shots into one, but today they gave him 3 separate shots (I think the nurse was new). They wanted to give him the flu shot but then changed their mind because it is pretty late in the season for a flu shot. He had a little side effect of a bloody nose tonight but besides being really tired he has done good with the shots so far. His next check up is his 9 month, where he will probably get more shots *boo hoo*.

Kiki has her 30 month check up in May. I am pretty sure she is getting shots, I'm just not sure which ones or how many. Luckily with the flu shot she was old enough and got the mist in her nose.
