Bad Week/Weekend for kids

All three kids were sick (and all with different symptoms) within one week/weekend. It started on Monday, June 6th. The first day of vacation bible school for Keira and Aden.

Keira & I were the only ones awake that morning (Monday) about 8:00 a.m. She wanted to cuddle on the couch with a blanky, which I thought was okay, because I love when the kids want to cuddle :). We laid there for a while & she didn't say a word. I could hear Taygen starting to wake up so I told Keira that I was going to get Taygen that she could lay on the couch or sit there until I got back. I went upstairs to get Taygen, came back down and Keira was laying on the couch with her blanky on from her head to her feet. I got Taygen's breakfast ready and sat her down in her seat, went over to check on Keira and ask her if she wanted to go back to bed (I just thought she was super tired), I pulled the cover down from her head and she started crying because the light hurt her eyes. I then felt her head and she had a fever. I checked her temp. and it was 103. at the time. She was also complaining about a really bad head ache. So, I gave her some tylenol and she just laid around all day until Taygen's 15 month check up then she went with me so she could get checked out as well. That was the first night of VBS for Keira and Aden. I went ahead and took Keira, Aden & Taygen thinking that I (or Dan) was going to be staying there the full 2 1/2 hours anyway and if she wasn't doing very well I could just stay down stairs with her while she laid down. She did really good and the next morning she was fine. Her symptoms were fever & headache. Hers lasted about 24 hours.

The rest of the week went by smoothly. Friday, Aden got sick also. Dan said (he let me sleep in) that Aden was playing fine, ate breakfast good and was being Aden until about 10:00 a.m when Dan found Aden just laying on the floor asleep (which is not like Aden). Dan felt his head and he also had a fever. Aden laid around most of the day and about 4 or 5 p.m Dan was holding him cuddling with him and Aden had to throw up so we rushed him over to the sink and luckily he made it to the sink. They had VBS that day also (lasted June 6-12 Mon.-Fri.) I took Keira and Taygen and decided to leave Aden with Dan so he could sleep and hopefully get better. When I got home at 9 p.m he was sitting up watching his shows and walking around talking. Aden's symptoms were a fever, throwing up & some diarrhea. His lasted 10 hours.

Taygen got sick on Saturday night. Earlier that day we had went for a walk, so the kids could ride their bikes then we were going to go shopping then to Fazoli's and eat. We went shopping, Taygen was fine, a little quiet but still herself. We get to Fazoli's and she didn't want to eat her breadstick (which is unusual for her). I look over at her and she is just freezing (it is 80 something degrees outside). Her eyes are just glazed over. So, I picked her up and just held her while I ate, she fell asleep on me. I can feel her just shaking because she is so cold, she also has a fever. She fell asleep in the car, when we get home I laid her down in her bed because she is still sleeping and still has a fever. She woke up about 7:30 p.m or so, she is a little groggy and fussy but she doesn't have her fever anymore. Once she wakes up she is fine, walking around, talking, & laughing at the kids. She was awake most of the night because her fever came back in the middle of the night and she was really restless. Sunday morning I let Dan and Taygen sleep in while I took Aden & Keira to church because they had a program that day. I came home from church and she was fine, no more fever. Taygen's symptoms were fussiness, fever & chills. Hers lasted about 7 hours (including the night time wakes).

Even though they all had different symptoms and they all didn't last the same time, they were all fine the next day.

Check-ups

Taygen turned one on March 5. She had her 1 year well-child checkup on March 11th. She is 19 lbs and is in the 50th percentile. She is 28 inches long and is in the 10th percentile. Her height hasn't changed since her 9 month check. She had to have 3 shots and a prick on the finger for anemia.  They did the prick on the finger and sent it to the lab, the nurse came back and said the level was 10, which means Anemic. She redid the test because she didn't think that was right, so Tayg got another prick on the finger and had to draw more blood, the nurse came back and said the level was 11, which now means no Anemia.

Aden is 2 1/2 and had to have his 30 month well child checkup as well. I took them in on the same day, to make it easier and didn't have to run in on different days. Aden weighs 26 lbs and is in the 12th perentile and his height is 34 1/4  and is in the 11th percentile.  He didn't have to have any shots this time!

We found out Aden has pneumonia. He had been coughing (croup like) and a runny nose (and acting fine) for about 2-3 weeks. He got a slight fever when he was sleeping Tuesday evening, Wednesday morning. He complained that his chest hurt when he coughed Wednesday morning when he was eating breakfast and just told him that he can just relax today and watch some of his shows since we didn't have anything to do that day. I wasn't too worried because he would be going to his Dr. for his well-child check on Friday and I would just talk to her about it then. Well, we get there and she listens to him breath,  Dan tells him to blow hard while she is listening to him breath. She tells Aden to blow again and that's when she heard the pneumonia. It's one of those things you think to yourself...if Dan wouldn't have told him to blow like that, would she even had caught that? He is on Amoxicillan and is doing much better.

Taygen has also been coughing and runny nose. She checked out fine at her appointment. Tayg got a fever that Friday night (a couple hours after the Dr. appt. and shots), so of course, I was worried because it was the same way Aden's pneumonia started. So I waited for the weekend to pass (because I am not taking her to Lincare or any kind of Urgent Care place) and got an appointment on Monday. They didn't hear any kind of pneumonia. The doctor thought that the fever was due to her shots, but the nurse told me that Taygen would not get any kind of shot symptoms for 10-12 days.

They monitored her oxygen for about 20 minutes and was worried about her breathing, they thought she might need a breathing machine (Aden has one when he was a baby). She came out of the appt. fine, she doesn't need a nebulizer or any kind of breathing machine. She is still not doing very good. She still has her cough, runny nose, very weak, just wants to sleep but when she does sleep it is only for about 30 minutes at a time (she can't get comfortable and her coughing wakes her up).  She has been like this every time she has gotten teeth, so hopefully that's what it is and not some health issue.

Feeling bad :(

Keira hasn't been feeling very good. She doesn't have the flu, she just has a really bad cold, runny nose, and cough. She hasn't had a fever but she has been really warm and grumpy. She usually doesn't get too bad when she doesn't feel good, she is usually really quiet and lovey and just wants to sleep. Aden has a little bit of a cold also, he is really congested and coughing. It seems like all he wants to do is sleep also when he doesn't feel good, sleeping usually makes me feel better when I am sick.

Well, I think we are done with the hustle and bussel of Christmas. We have one more Christmas, but that is in the middle of January some time. We had 5 Christmas's this year (counting our Christmas morning together).

It seems like I might not be working at my little deli anymore. I had an argument with my manager because she changed my hours without asking me. Here is my long story kind of short... I was working Fri. & Sat. 5 a.m.-1:30 a.m, they cut hours so I was down to Fri. 5 a.m.-8a.m & Sat. 5 a.m.-1 p.m. Well my manager called me 2 weeks ago on Thursday and asked me if I could work her shift Fri. Dec. 19th from 8 a.m-1p.m and I said I would, so I did, the next Friday I was expecting to work my regular shift 5a.m-8a.m and I looked at the schedule and it says 5-1, which I allready had plans at 10 that morning. I called her and told her that nobody asked me to work until 1 and that I was leaving at 8 whether or not anybody showed up. I am usually not the type of person to let little stuff like that bother me but I do not like her and it gave me a good reason to be a b**ch :) Enough of my rambling, sorry to bore you to death we will move onto another subject.

Dan is off this week from work, he is on a little mini vacation. It is kind of nice having him around the house on the week days. For those of you who don't know me, I am a stay at home mom and go to school on line full time, so some days can be pretty stressful with 2 kids, but it is worth it. I will have my Psychology degree in May 2009, so hopefully the stress level will go down once I am not in school anymore. I am not quit sure what I am going to do after I get done with school, I do not want to put the kids in daycare. I will most likely find a part time 6p.m-10p.m shift at a local youth center or something like that. Okay I am rambling again, better get to bed.
